First Appearance/ Advisory Hearings
According to Florida Law, an arrested person must see a judge and be advised of the charges against them and the bond amount, within 24 hours of being arrested. In some counties these are called Advisory Hearings (since you're being advised of the charges and your rights); in other counties they are called First Appearance Hearings.
Depending on the county, a public defender may be there to represent you. However, if you have a private attorney, your chances of getting out of jail with a lower bond or ROR (released on your own recognizance) greatly improve.
In many cases your bond can be reduced at a first appearance hearing. As soon as you are arrested, or you think there may be a warrant out for your arrest, call us. We're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to talk with you about your case.
Initial consultation is free.
