Power Of Attorney

What it is:

Power of Attorney is a legal document giving someone else the POWER to handle your affairs.

Why do I need one?

You need one if you are in jail, and you need someone to go to the bank and get your money.

You need one if you are out of the country and would like someone to handle your affairs.

You need one if you are incapacitated and need someone to handle your affairs.

Can I do a Power of Attorney if the person is not available?

No. In order for us to do a Power of Attorney we must have the person giving the power physically present in our office or in a place we can go see them and have the document notarized (like in jail or in the hospital).

And, the person must be competent.

Powers of Attorney can be as broad or as narrow as you need it to be. We’ve done Powers of Attorney for something as simple as getting a car out of impound, to giving power of huge estates to relatives when a loved one was incapacitated.
